Yves Saint Laurent was a man of class, a fashion icon and now holds the title of one of the most prestigious luxury designer brands, but most importantly his legacy lives on through his work. He touched many people during his life & educated the people of his time about true elegance, creativity, success and integrity. He is one of the reasons to this day, i’m a huge fan of the YSL brand.
I first fell in love with Yves Saint Laurent‘s cologne collection only a few years ago. I was attracted to the sweet smelling La Nuit De L’Homme, even to this day it was my most loved cologne and proud to have repurchased it five times since. However, my little love affair soon became neglected when I noticed there was a new scent on the block.
Behold… L’Homme Ultime. Much like the Le Nuit De L’Homme, it smells so elegant and floral, keeping true to the man that made it all happen. Ultime has mastered something slightly different and daring compared to the rest of the L’Homme range but it makes it ever so appealing.
I feel the fragrance has a hidden meaning behind it, portrayed through its scent. An analogy of the twenty first century man that is stuck between a tame, sophisticated and mannered life but with an ever burning desire to be free and wild. When sprayed, you instantly get hit with citrusy, spicy and a little bit of a boozy scent but within seconds the sweet notes of rose and geranium follow through.
The aesthetics of the bottle are the same as the rest of the YSL range, so sharp, sexy and distinguished – much like the modern man. You could tell the brand if the cologne was spotted somewhere, making it extremely identifiable. Other brands like Louis Vuitton stick to similar branding of their commodities, that completes the image for the brand.
YSL have got the formula for these colognes spot on. The scent doesn’t fade through the day/evening, it remains until your clothes and skin until washed. That’s an important factor for me when buying a cologne. Since YSL do it so well, my loyalty remains.
Ultime is a perfect addition and without any hesitation, I would recommend this scent to anyone who loves sweet, aromatic scents.
