Steak At Flat Iron

I must apologise about the photo, I did not take my camera with me so I had to take whatever I could on my phone.
Let me just let you all in on a little secret, I have lived in London for a full year now and I have never been the the foodie side of Soho. Having been to Soho on various occasions, I had never seen this part of it. It is a lot bigger than I thought! As Lizzy & I wondered around making an attempt to get to Flat Iron, I noticed and saw all the other restaurants that I had seen various bloggers visit – some of which I will be trying.
Anyway, arriving at Flat Iron, there was a queue. First thoughts, it MUST be this good if people are queuing just to get seated on a Tuesday evening. Our turn came and the kind waitress explained there was an hour wait (which was fine!) so she took down our name and number and said we would receive a text when our table is ready – genius!!
Off we went for an hour, strolling around Oxford St doing some window shopping and visiting various chocolatiers in Soho.
Soon enough, I got a text saying our table is ready and the experience was ready to begin. When entering, it’s a small tall building with lots of old canteen style dinner tables (much more classy though!) with a dark gaze hanging over with dim lighting.
We sat down and were greeted with a mug of popcorn and a jug of water. The menu stuck to the wall on a huge paper board – a pretty snazzy way to present it and the waiter explained what part of the cow the meat came from (the shoulder, if anyone is wondering) and took our order.
Lizzy and I had the same thing, the steak cooked well done, with dripping chips and peppercorn sauce. They also give you a small pot of dressing covered salad too.
The service was so good, less than ten minutes after ordering our food arrived all piping hot, ready for us to indulge into.
My favourite part of it all is you get a small meat cleaver instead of a knife, which I thought was awesome. Lizzy was very impressed by it too! It made the cutting of the meat easier, although the meat was cooked to perfect and practically melted in your mouth.
The chips were perfectly crisp, probably the best chips I have ever had to date – no word of a lie.
I could not fault my experience at Flat Iron, the food was amazing, the service was on point, the prices were ever so reasonable and the atmosphere was so warm and friendly. I will most definitely be returning again and so will Lizzy, from what I heard – she could not stop talking about it all evening!
