Dining At Mangal – Now Closed

Friday nights are great, sometimes I just want to just sit in and watch a movie on TV. Others, I realise I am still young and should be out exploring and trying new things. My sister and I decided to go for dinner, so we headed off to Soho. I was determined to find some good places around there!

We ventured around and like the look of Mangal. It offered a Turkish off the grill/barbecue sort of menu. (For all my muslim followers, it is in fact halal too.)

We were seated super fast, and presented with a menu. This is where the hard part came into play, what do we chose?! Everything looked so tasty on the menu.
As we basically wanted everything, we decided to get the full platter. It was more than ideal for two, with each of the different meats on it.
They provided us with some naan and humous while we waited. The naan so crisp yet soft and the humous was creamy and divine. Along with, we order a glass of ginger ale with it too. No champagne today!
Whilst munching on the complementary starter, I was scoping out the decor. The dim lighting was provided by some old school scientific looking lights, that really caught my eye. Sadly, you couldn’t see the detail in the photos.
Every wine lover’s dream to have at least thirty bottles of wine just above your table… Mmmm!
Before we knew it, the food had arrived. Our stomachs gave us the thumbs up too.

The salad expressed so many lovely flavours, including a hint of lemon, parsley and mint, with decorative orange slices either side.
The meat selection contain, chicken wings, lamb shish kebab, lamb ribs, meat cubes and chicken cubes, on top of a bed on spicy cous-cous.
Out of it all, my favourite were the chicken wings and would definitely order than as a separate next time and the least favourite were the ribs. The ribs had too much fat on and not as much flavour as the rest of the meat.
It was all beautifully marinated and had our taste buds tingling for hours. Delicious.
