Foodie Fridays, Bournemouth

Food always tastes that little better when it is closer to the weekend, when you have fewer things to worry about and some time away from work to enjoy what matters most in life.
Jaye and I are regulars at our local Starbucks in London, meeting up for a coffee and a catching up,  finding new food places and going on adventures around central. However, since we reunited a few years back, we have never been able to find the time to meet up in Bournemouth – either one of us is always busy or not here at the same time. Until yesterday when we decided to put that tradition to rest and venture out and do what we do best… eat.
A beautifully sunny and hot Friday, with a short drive down to the beach, it was only going to end one way… dining down by the seaside.
I’ll be honest, even with the beach so close,  I rarely find myself down there unless it is a warm evening with an ice-cream in one hand and a long stroll along the promenade. Therefore, a definite long overdue visit to the beach, killing two birds with one stone.
Jaye suggested we ate at Urban Reef and it came with a solid five star recommendation.
Settling down, we opted for alfresco dining to enjoy the sun and the stunning view of the beach…

We are both all for trying new things, however when there are burgers and nachos on the menu, we know exactly what each other will order. We are pretty predictable, you could say.
The service being as quick as it was, we were not waiting around long before the food speedily arrived.  It was a good job too, with rumbly tummies we were ready to dig in.

I ordered the burger, which was absolutely delicious. Topped with melted cheese and sweet onion relish, it was just the perfect Friday night treat. It came with a side of skin on fries. I absolutely love skin on fries and very few places actually make them and do a good job of it so I was throughly delighted that Urban Reef did.
My lovely dinner date went for the nachos with chilli on top. Yum yum! It definitely got a thumbs up from Jaye who struggled to finish it due to the massive portions served, a big positive!
Throughly full, we decided to make the most of the evening and have a stroll on sand and dip our feet in the sea, reminiscing about our younger days.
Good friends, superb food and breathtaking views all in one evening. It definitely feels good to be home!
Until next time…
