Day 4: Closest Friends

Welcome to day 4 of the 30 day blog challenge. Today is a post on closest friends. The past few days, the topics have been relatively unchallenging but this topic has put me in a bit of a pickle. Let’s see what you guys think of it!

Well, let’s get started then… What makes a close friend? For me a close friend is somebody that you can open up to, feel comfortable around and be yourself. A person that will stay up with you and chat, just because you have had a rubbish day or you just need some company. Somebody that you can not only share the bad times with but also spend your good days with too and make memories from them.  I have always struggled to find good friends, it has never been a walk in the park like it is for many of you.

I do feel that sometimes friendships can be abused, in a way where keeping in contact become a one way affair – not ideal as people can feel devalued very quickly at this point. Anyway, I don’t want to get you all down, no need for that now.

I have had some good friends in my life and currently do. Let me introduce a few of these lovely people, that keep me going and sane:

Anna – Anna and I have been best friends for the past 5 years. We initially started talking on Twitter, we soon enough found things in common, such as religion and education. Little did we know that this would the blossoming of a beautiful friendship. We talked a lot, eventually we decided it was time to meet up (not something I have really done with anyone else!) but having lived only 2 hours from each other it would have been too rude not to. It went from there really, we then used to talk on a daily basis and it lead to meeting up more often. Now we are inseparable, I only live 10 minutes from her now – we both happened to be studying in London now – so I get to see her all the time now! I can well and truly say, she has been the most amazing best friend I have ever had. Anna puts up with my drama and has always been there for me. Safe to say we have had the best times together too, so here to another further 5 years of friendship!

Debbie – Debbie and I met through horses, she came on livery with her horse to Stocks Farm Equestrian Centre (my yard at home). Over the past two years, our friendship has grown thanks to the mutual interest of my little boy Blue. We have been through the ups and downs of the horsey world, but we have always stuck quite close together and powered through all the obstacles. I am extremely glad that Debbie came into my life, because not only is she a close friend – she is also my mature therapist when I am having one of my days! I look forward to the adventures we come across in the future!

Catherine – Catherine and I became friends a good few years back, where there was another mutual interest of horses as she worked at my yard. I cannot think of a time that we haven’t been friends apart from the obvious times that friends fall out, but you know what they say, falling out and having disagreements only makes a friendship stronger. I’m so lucky to have such a wonderful friend in her and I know she will always be there for me as I will be for her – we have been through a though time together, something that was hard for Catherine but I know that all will be well in the end.

Friendship is something that is definitely earned and not something that will come over night. I am so excited to see what new friendships I make in the future and hope to make some new blogger friends  as my blog expands.
