I am lucky enough to call London my home, whilst I study at university. A big, beautiful city, that boasts so much character and elegance. Since I moved out of Zone 1 and to Zone 4, I find myself missing central on a regular basis. Nothing beats living in London Bridge, i’m not going to lie to you all. I still find myself trying to convince myself that I like Zone 4, but we all know the truth…
Every time I step off in central, I find myself falling back in love with the city. A long distant relationship that ignites with a great spark on reconnection, like the very first date.
I think this quote sums up all that needs to be known about the big smoke… “When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life.”
Since I met my best friend Lizzy, we make a point of visiting the Christmas markets along the Southbank and making the most of the festivities that are on offer.
These gingerbread houses were the most creative things I have seen in a long time. So many talented people out there…
Lizzy and I are both lovers of funky and different types of lighting and these fairy lights just caught our eye. They were so pretty!
As a huge candle lover, I had to try my hardest to resist buying any of these candles. Let’s be honest though, this is literal candle heaven. #candleporn
Another reason we get on so well, we both have enormous sweet tooth’s. We saw the massive stall of sugary goodness and just had to pick up some goodies for ourselves.
We tucked right in, munching away and giving ourselves a full fledged sugar rush.
I wanted to take a nice picture with the lovely riverside scenery, but my camera had other ideas.
As we walked along, we came across another of the Paddington Bear collections that are all about London. We just had to take a picture with the little fellow and make him famous on my blog!
These lights just instantly put me into a festive mood, calming my soul and pushing me into a trance. I had to be nudged a little to wake up, but it was just so mesmerised by such a beautiful sight.
The festive feeling was running through my veins by this point. Making me so ready for Christmas!
Sadly, we came to the end of another beautiful Christmas market along the Embankment… but the next stop was Covent Garden.
So hop on board the tube with us and let’s head on over…
Ladies and gents, boys and girls… Santa and his reindeers are on their way! Get your chimneys swept and your milk with cookies at the ready.
The talk of the town is that Rudolph is staying at home this year, to keep Mrs Claus company instead. 🙁
As we wandered around, we came across this beauty. How magnificent is this statue?! I think that is a work of art indeed.
I have to admit, Covent Garden wins this year for its Christmas decorations…
We then quickly shuffled onto our favourite part. This tree holds a great deal of significance to Lizzy and I. Our very first Christmas as being the best of friends, we came over to this very tree in this very spot and made a vow. Every Christmas we could come and visit it, and take a selfie with it. Queue soppy music…
I don’t think we have changed that much in a year, have we?
This definitely sums up our crazy, close, fun and eventful friendship. Here is to many more years like this too! -clinks champagne glass-
Another fantastic festive day came to an end, but all good things come to an end. For a new day will rise tomorrow, with many more adventures!
Happy holidays fellow Fresh & Fearless readers.
