Are you ready? Are you sure? Let’s enter what was the blogger fest at Chotto Matte for a Zomato blogger meet up.
I found myself admiring the streets of Soho, strolling along before the heavens opened and I got completely drenched. I was most worried about my precious hair, especially after all the time I spent in front of the mirror prior to heading out… but that’s another story.
I finally made it to Chotto Matte in one piece, having not melted in the rain. I entered to what was a magnificent and elegant Nikkei restaurant. Being a lover of all things expensive and beautiful, I found myself sitting right in at Chotto Matte.
Ready to meet everyone else, I made a quick stop at the cloak room and headed over to our separated blogger ‘VIP’ area. Greeted by the beautiful Alex, I started to mingle with all the lovely people that had already arrived.
With champagne in one hand, my camera hanging from my neck, I greeted new and old faces.
I even caught Jaime (@angloyankophile) midshot, ready to hit up Instagram!
We were then all gathered together to have a talk from bar manager (@Fabianolatham1) who gave us a talk about the different drinks that are served at Chotto Matte and the tradition Pisco that is used in some drinks.
The bartender was gracefully making up some drinks in the background for us. Yum!
The Pisco sour boasted a strong lemon taste, that felt like it was closed with a pina colada. It was delicious and went down a treat!
Next, we moved onto some food tasting. The wonderful chefs working their magic and making up some lovely tasting dishes for us.
The dish they were making was Tuna sashimi with wasabi. The base was flat bread with smoked tuna with wasabi on top and garnished with some herbs. As most of my readers know, i’m not a seafood fan but I still tried it. It wasn’t my cup of tea, but I still had a go… be proud!
Sarah loving life, tucking right into it. I wish we could all look this glam when eating!
We were back to the drinks again, where bar manager Fabiano showed us how to shake up a Cuatro Uvas. He even gave us a useful tip, to add more ice to a drink rather than less. Many people think that adding lots of ice dilutes the drink, but it keeps it at a constant cool temperature instead. Clever, huh?!
We were invited to have a go at having a little cocktail shake up…
The lovely Le Binh (@Le__binh) had a good shake up first… She does it with such poise and class.
I persuaded Sarah to come and join me behind the bar, to have a shake up for ourselves. Whilst showing us what to do, Fabiano told us a little joke about how the face you make during a shake up resembles faces you make during other activities. I’ll let your imaginations fill in the gaps… 😉
Shake, shake.. shake, shake a-shake yeah!
I took the opportunity to grab a picture with the chef whilst I was back there. As you can see, the rain turned my hair into some un-volumised mess!
I even got a chance to cut one of the tostaditas too. My charm seems to go a long way… 😉
The chefs sent around more food, this time it was chicken skewers with a creamy sauce. I was definitely a fan of the chicken, as was many of the other bloggers. Delish!
We also got a chance to taste some Padron peppers, which was made with a marinade of den miso and sea salt, some Canchas which were Peruvian corn puffs, eggplant nigiri which I loved and some cassava and sweet potato chips. All so delicious!
I absolutely loved how they smoked the food with a flame, quick, easy and efficent!
I love sharing pictures of the amazing people I meet. So many fabulous people and bloggers!
Emma (@bloomzy_) and I.
Le Thi (@iamchopstick) and I.
I had to get a picture with the Zomato team too (only person missing was Yusuf!) Left to right, Christian (@sponzie77), Sarah (@sarah_morton) – also the person behind the @ZomatoUK account, Alexandra (@AKBoogie) and I.
I have met these two wonderful ladies before and they are absolute gems. The lovely Jaime (@angloyankophile), Angela (@theawkwardblog) and I.
Amy (@yumm3i) and I.
Of course, it was lovely to meet another male blogger at the event. Sarah, the dashing Thorne (@LondonLikesFood) and I. (Don’t kill me for the second photo Sarah!)
We were also lucky enough to have a complete tour of Chotto Matte, including the kitchens.
Whilst in the kitchens, we spotted some delicious food that was about to and be served…
We had one last post tour drink, Perfecto Amor. A Peruvian wine that had been aged in sherry barrels.
A lovely end to a fantastic event, with such an amazing bunch of people.
The event went so well, Alex, Sarah, Thorne and I found ourselves staying back for some celebratory drinks, we were also joined by the lovely Angie (@SilverSpoonLDN)
Some snacks, cocktails and champagne later, we decided to call it a day. I am definitely paying for it but it was so worth it. Great event, company, food and drinks. A special thanks to Alexandra, Yusuf and everyone at Zomato for organising it!

Great night…I didn’t get home til 1.30am!!
Lots of love,
Angie
