I needed my fix of all the things that I love, so I decided to head back home for a long weekend. It was a bit of a shock for my parents really, as I had booked the tickets the same day I was going home – they weren’t expecting it!
I got greated by my parents at the coach station, afternoon time on Friday. It was a matter of minutes before my best friend found out that I was home, so it was basically straight into the house and back out for Friday evening. We had a much needed catch up, some things just can’t be discussed over skype, eh Olivia? 😉
Saturday was spent with my special Blue, having not seen him in seven weeks – I definitely started to get withdrawals. On my arrival he spotted me from the other side of his field and immediately headed in my direction with a little whinny too – as if you say ‘you’re back!’
Saturday evening was the first day I had my mum’s cooking again, and boy oh boy was it good! There is something definitely special about my mum’s cooking, she always adds that extra touch of love that makes it taste ten times better than my attempts!
Of course, she had made my favourite soup along side with a thai green chicken curry – yummy!!
Spending time in the evening with my parents brought back so many good memories of the laughs and jokes we shared before I left, but they definitely made a return. I can 100% say that my parents are like my best friends, they are always there for me but also have their fun sides too!
Sunday was spent with my parents all day, just relaxing, catching up, doing what we normally do best on Sunday’s.
Monday was spent with Blue and my parents, tending to my lovely boy but also spending those last few hours with my parents before I spent the next six weeks without their company.
When I got home on Monday evening, I returned to my quiet old flat again, no home cooked meals, no sitting in front of the tv with your parents, passing jokes, or seeing Blue everyday. I guess it kind of hits you… but you have to overcome it and stay strong. You don’t realise how much you need, love and appreciate your parents until you have such a long time away from them…
I feel so content with everything since being home and returning to London. I have my smile back and I feel recharged with all the things I love.
All I can say is bring on Christmas break!
