People always ask me what got me into blogging? I had always wanted to start my own blog, but what did I want to write about? I literally could not think of one thing that I wanted to base my blog on. Nonetheless, I started my one and only blog ‘Fresh and Fearless’. I did not categorise anything, just blogged when I felt there was something worth sharing (which was not very often). I remember sitting with a fellow friend and blogger, Jaye, asking her to inspire me and give me some ideas on what to base my blog on. She said “You will figure out yourself what you enjoy writing about and have a passion for, it will take time though.” Never have I had a wiser set of words before… just over 6 months after starting my blog I finally secured what the four topics I liked to write about – lifestyle, grooming products/unisex beauty, fashion (since I love clothes and shoes) and food.
What has blogging done for me? Well, for starters it has made me a better writer. I never had an interest in writing before, in fact I hated English. I was the sort of person that enjoyed writing in text slang and not in full words. That soon changed didn’t it! It is amazing how my words just flow when I write my blog posts now, I guess it is because I enjoy it – that’s the main thing.
I have got to know so many different and diverse people, the sort that I would not have dreamt to stop and say hello if passing them on the street. Attending blogger meet ups are even better, when you finally get to meet the person behind the blog and twitter account that you have spent months talking to.
The best parts of blogging I would say is taking my camera with me everywhere, it is so satisfying capturing all those special moments and being able to share them with you all. The best part is when you get your camera out at restaurants to capture a shot of every dish. I have got some weird looks and awkward smiles because of it – but it is all worth it.
What do my friends and family think of my blog? Well my parents try and read as many of my blog posts as they can, they are extremely supportive and help me when and where they can. They like to think of themselves as my PA’s, always reminding me to do things. I have attended various job interviews and the employers have always been impressed with the blogging section of my curriculum vitae. “It is different and impressive, I know it takes a lot of time, dedication and commitment. I am glad such qualities shine within you.” It is such comments that encourage me to continue what I am doing.
It has taken a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get to where I am, one year later, I would not change it for the world. It has given me such an experience that I cannot even express in words. Once you start, do not give up – I am certainly glad I did not.
