Colognes are another of my seriously bad addictions, I have an ever growing collection all which are composed of sweet tones.
I am awful, I always make sure I have a bottle of something in my university bag or in my camera bag when going to blogger or PR events. A little top up here and there… or if you are me… at every minute of the day!
A outfit is never complete without a good scent to go with it. It is like the finishing touch. Especially, when you are out about in public, somebody will admire your outfit from afar and as you pass by them they get a whiff of a sweet and sexy cologne – it is the complete package.
I have been known to be greeted with ‘Oh Aftab, you smell amazing’, on a regular basis, therefore, I must be doing something right then!
I thought I would share a few of my favourites, the ones that have either come to an end or are very close to it (from overusing it!) that are worthy of a repurchase in my books.
#1 Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) – La Nuit De L’Homme
Definitely my favourite of all my colognes. Another elegant cologne produced by YSL with smart, sophisticated bottle. A fresh, bold, sweet scent with top notes of cardamon and lavender, that expresses darkness, mystery and seduction through it. If it were a person, I think it would resemble a tall, well dressed man. A scent for the more well dressed days, for sure.
#2 Calvin Klein – Euphoria Men
Another favourite that falls shortly behind the YSL cologne above. I am so glad they brought out a Euphoria for men, as the women’s version is divine and they expressed it in a similar way, putting a masculine twist on it. A well structured, yet simple design which is appealing to the eye. Euphoria has a very sweet woody scent, with notes of ginger, sage and pepper tones. Definitely is not your average woody masculine scent, it definitely has been pushed towards the feminine side of sweet but it smells absolutely delightful! A scent for smart-casual attire.
#3 Hugo Boss – BOSS Orange
A bottle that resembles a male’s six pack, it definitely has a dapper type scent to follow. It is composed of top notes of apple, vanilla, incense along with a low tone of pepper. A sweet and spicy scent, for the cheeky, athletic sort of man. A more everyday sort of scent.
#4 Paco Rabanne – Black XS
A scent that matches its bottle perfectly. A scent with dark, sweet fruity tones with a splash of zesty lemon and praline, along with follow up of cinnamon. This is a scent I have worn to many formal, black tie type events. It is a very dark and strong scent that will radiate all through the night into the following morning. Perfect for those events where you do not wish to be carrying out a bottle to top yourself up.
