Sunday Funday

People tend to associate sundays with a day of sleeping in, full english breakfasts and lazing around. Sunday being a day that the majority of people have off, it is a good time to have a catch up with old friends or even spend some quality time with your family.
Usually, my sundays normally are the lazy sort – a break from the horses, just having a chilled day at home with family. Today was nothing of the sort, I made use of my sunday at took up the chance to meet an old friend that I had not seen in a while – stories of old times and good giggle is a perfect way  to end the week before a busy day working tomorrow!
Kate and I go a long way back, where we started talking on an equine forum. Little did I know that the new yard I was going to, was in fact her work place and that’s where we had encountered one another on a personal level. Although we never really became close, just acquaintances.
Our friendship really bloomed when Kate had bought her stunning Dutch Warmblood, Niamh (who I have written about in previous blog posts) and I helped look after on a regular basis for the best part of a year.  After that, keeping in contact and regular encounters caused us to grow closer and fonder of one another.
I headed off to university and Kate had moved the horses to her parents home which they had only just purchased, with fields and stables at the back. None the less, we still kept in touch, the wonders of Whatsapp! Every time I came home, I made a point of visting Niamh and also spending time with Kate. After all such good friends are hard to come by, my motto is a true friend is person that will go out of their way to even spend five minutes of quality time with you – hence why I have always and always will make time for Kate.
Most of the summer had passed and I realised that I had not even seen Kate yet, therefore plans were well under way. What started off as a catch up over coffee and muffin at Costa, which led to visit to Kate’s parents home – which I had not visited in the two years they have been living there.
A lovely warm welcome from both Kate’s parents John and Zoe, oh and the dog Tia who came bounding towards me at first glimpse – got love the Holloway’s! A tour of their new house included seeing old and new animal pals, including the many guinea pigs, sheep and the old boys Rod and Wills. Tea was drunk, scrumptious cake was consumed and some lovely company over the dinner table with a lovely view of peaceful grazing cows.
As the afternoon drew to a close I drove home along the quiet country roads with the sun shining over me, singing along to loud pumping summer tunes. Life is good…
