Start of Lectures

That time has finally come, freshers is over and it’s time to get my head down and start studying… Oh the joys!

Getting up on the first day gave me the same feeling I used to get when having to get up for school and sixth form, that feeling of dread. It was the first time I actually woke up before 8am in the first two weeks of being at uni?! I guess it makes a difference, not having to wake up and go to the yard for Blue. That’s going to be such a killer when I go back home in Christmas!

I’ll be honest I didn’t know what to expect my first lecture, it was quite a daunting experience, meeting new people, meeting the staff but most of all having to actually learn something after being on a 3 month summer holiday.

I have to admit, the first two things listed weren’t so bad. It was all well and good that I had Khushbo on my course and we already knew each other quite well, so it wasn’t like I was starting without knowing anyone.

Prior to coming to uni, I was looking at various groups trying to find people on my course and I rounded up a amazing number of four people, quite shocking huh?! I was pretty sure there was going to be only a few of us in our lectures but it turns out there are so many people doing Biochemistry – it’s quite exciting really!

The first lectures have been just recapping things we learnt in A-level Biology and Chemistry, which is good actually, it’s getting me back into the science mindset again and getting my brain back up to speed again. Although I had my first lecture on Nutrition today and I have to say, it’s different but extremely enjoyable – the human body and people’s diet is always something I’ve had a keen interest in too.

I’ve also managed to get ill again, that will be the second time in three weeks – my immmune system isn’t doing very well! The hardest thing to do in a silent lecture is not to cough, purely because it’s so awkward and distracting. So I need to get better and fast!

I hope everyone is enjoying university, many people say that it’s the best few years of your life, but we shall see…

Me and Liz in one of our lectures, what’s a blog post without a cheeky picture or selfie?! 😛

That’s all for now guys, I shall update you all soon-ish!
