Rock & Roll Brunch At HoH

Sundays were definitely made to laze around, binge watch episodes of your favourite series and go out for brunch. The food part being the most important, of course!
Even with my busy schedule, with upcoming exams I really needed some time away from my desk and there is no better way to do so, then meeting up with a close friend, reserving a table and heading out for a Sunday brunch.
The destination of choice was House of Ho, after enjoying my first experience here and hearing so much about their brunch, it finally made a come back and it was only a matter of time before I headed down.

We were reserved lychee bellinis with prawn crackers and edamame. As a person who doesn’t like prawns, I am often hesitant in eating prawn crackers in case they have a strong taste, however these were perfect and deliciously crisp.

Nobody can turn down a boozy brunch, especially when unlimited prosecco is on the cards. Sipping away, catching up over the past few weeks, it was a lovely little treat.

Onto the starters, which included a choice of three staters off a set menu. Sofia and I both decided on the chicken pomelo, accompanied with chilli glazed chicken wings which were a real winner the last time I had them, smoked aubergine, stuffed tofu and summer rolls. Most of the dishes were absolutely delicious, however there was an overpowering, odd tasting herb that put us off the salad. When asking the waitress, she claimed it was a Vietnamese herb and she shared the same thoughts about its taste. The tofu was a dish that didn’t take our fancy either, however I guess it is due to the fact we are born meat eaters.

Finishing off what was a really filling set of starters, next came out the main which was served with morning glory and jasmine rice. Sofia and I both opted for the lemongrass chicken cooked in a fish caramel sauce which was absolutely divine, considering it was based on a fish sauce. The morning glory was something very different, a Vietnamese ‘water spinach’ which was very flavourful with a smoked aroma and a sprinkling of salt on top for extra taste.

Our stomachs were literally about burst with how much we had eaten, especially with the multiple glasses of bubbles consumed but we had to make room for dessert. Who can say no to dessert? The dessert served was Chef Bobby’s special, which was crème brûlée. Now, after I went to Paris and had the most delicious brûlée (can be seen here) I promised myself that I would not ever have one again once I returned to England because it genuinely would be incomparable. This is where I regret making this promise, because it was absolutely divine and may even be just as good as the Parisian one!

A brilliant and filling experience, that I would recommend everyone to go have a try. There are two set menus one is £29 and other £36, where the £36 includes a couple of more expensive dishes in the mains, an extra side and a few more options in terms of drinks and dishes. Bobby’s Rock and Roll brunch will be running indefinitely every Sunday from noon until 5pm, so get on down there!
