Best Restaurants in London

Fenix, Greek restaurant in Mayfair London

London offers a huge variety of dining experiences, making it easy to find something that suits your mood, whether that’s a long, leisurely dinner or something more casual.

In Mayfair, you’ll find some of the city’s most refined restaurants, known for their elegant interiors and exceptional menus. It’s the perfect area for a more elevated dining experience. One of the latest new openings in Mayfair is an opulent greek restaurant called Fenix. It was born in Manchester and it has made it’s way down to the big apple.

Soho, on the other hand, has a completely different energy. It’s vibrant, fast-paced, and filled with a mix of well-loved favourites and newer, trend-led spots. It’s ideal for evenings out and spontaneous dinners. I absolutely love Chotto Matte in Soho!

Shoreditch brings a more creative and contemporary feel, with a focus on modern concepts, unique interiors, and globally inspired menus.

No matter where you choose, one thing London does exceptionally well is variety — you’re never short of options.

Top Dining Experiences in London

For a truly memorable meal, London has no shortage of standout dining experiences.

Rooftop restaurants offer incredible views across the city skyline, particularly at sunset, while riverside dining along the Thames creates a more relaxed and scenic atmosphere. Aqua is one of my favourite rooftop restaurants, I even remember shooting a proposal there too. So it’s definitely one for special memories.

For something more intimate, there are plenty of smaller, tucked-away restaurants that feel more personal and less crowded, often delivering some of the best food in the city. If you like Italian restaurants, you can read more on one of my favourite Italian restaurants in the city.

If you’re celebrating something special, London is also home to a number of fine dining restaurants that combine exceptional food with beautifully designed spaces, making the overall experience just as important as the menu itself.

Different areas of London offer completely different dining experiences, so it’s worth exploring a few during your stay.

Mayfair is known for its luxury restaurants and polished atmosphere, making it a go-to for special occasions. Soho is perfect for variety, with everything from casual dining to more refined options within a small area.

Shoreditch is ideal if you’re looking for something more modern and creative, while areas like Covent Garden strike a balance between lively and accessible.

For a more relaxed, daytime experience, Borough Market is a must-visit. It’s one of the best places in London to try a range of different foods in one place, from street food to artisan products. One of my favourite pasta restaurants is right next to Borough Market, and a must try if you’re there.

Tips on Booking Restaurants in London

London’s most popular restaurants can book up quickly, especially on weekends, so it’s always a good idea to plan ahead where possible.

Reservations are recommended for dinner, particularly in central areas like Mayfair and Soho. For more casual spots, you may be able to walk in, but there can still be a wait during busy times.

If you’re visiting for a special occasion, booking a few days in advance will give you more choice and ensure you don’t miss out on the restaurants you’re most interested in trying.

It’s also worth considering dining slightly earlier or later than peak times for a more relaxed experience.
