7 Reasons To Visit Budapest

Budapest, glorious Budapest. A city that truly stole my heart for many reasons. A magical city that can ensure you let go of every worry you came with. The fulfilment and utter awe that a city with so much poverty and a hard few years can also bring so much happiness. If my previous two posts, Top 10 Things To Do in Budapest and Best 8 Scenic Views in Budapest haven’t already given you enough reasons to visit, here are a few more.

1. Budapest is the most colourful city

Castle Hill, Budapest

I’ve never known for one city to love yellow and other bright colours. You can’t wait down a single street with a blush of of honey or canary yellow. Yellow being such a happy colour that brings an association of warmth, it definitely keeps residents and tourists smiling.

2. You learn life lessons

On various occasions, we felt intimidated by the way we were looked at my many Hungarian residents, but truth me told, when you got talking to them you’d realise they are the total opposite. Definitely teaches you to not judge a book by its cover.

3. They still use trams

Yellow Trams, Budapest

Trams are one of the main modes of transport in the city, making it a very eco friendly city. So you won’t expect to be inhaling lots of fumes, even though it is the capital of Hungary.

4. It’s ridiculously cheap

Now the British pound has become weaker, we often find most European countries and long haul destinations a little more expensive. Not in Budapest. You can get a pint of beer for as little as £1!

5. All the best views are free

Heroes Square, Budapest

Unlike London, who makes you pay to see many of the great attractions or beautiful views. Budapest doesn’t do that. They want their city to be seen by all walks of life, without limiting everything with a fee and barrier. (Pictured: Heroes Square)

6. It’s truly historic

Budapest has been through World War 2 and lives to tell the tale. The city still have the bullet holes imbedded into the walls of their buildings and they are still standing with great might. The river Danube and Buda Castle are also world heritage sites.

7. Insane food culture

Chimney Cake Cone, Budapest

If you are a true foodie, then Budapest is for you. Some of the awesome treats they can whip are to die for. For example, the chimney cake cone, so creative!

I truly hope I have convinced you all enough that Budapest should be your next travel destination.

Until next time…

I absolutely LOVE Budapest. Had the best time there earlier this year and want to go back. Had an amazing AirBnB and everything was so affordable. Looks like you had a great time.
