The last few days on January were the days I enjoyed one of my last unhealthy carbohydrate filled lunches with Jaime who blogs over at Angloyankophile.
Wildwood in Covent Garden was the choice of restaurant by hers truly, but a choice that was perfect for a winter afternoon with bitterly cold winds around.
I met Jaime, with a full red nose and a sore eyes from the streaming tears that the cold winds led to, forgetting the fact I was around 30 minutes late thanks to tubes. Always a great way to start!
Lunchtimes are hard for people like Jaime that work and days that I have prior university commitments too, it calls for a quick catch up and an express lunch.
The setting of the Wildwood is what impressed me. It was like sitting in the old times, with a modern touch. A very elegant and sophisticated restaurant I must admit!
We were the first to arrive for lunch, but it progressively got busier.
The waitress being very attentive, understanding our time limit she made sure we had our food quicker than normal.
First off, we started with some garlic bread and drinks. The garlic bread was the best that I have ever tried. Honestly, I would go back to Wildwood purely to have the garlic bread again. It had areas of sweetened caramelised onion which complimented it beautifully.
For drinks, I opted for the raspberry lemonade which was divine. A sweet berry taste with that refreshing fizz. Mmmm!
Jaime opted for the Appetiser, which I absolutely love too. I used to drink it on regular occasions as a kid, probably why I drink it a lot less often now…
A beautifully set out table, whilst we waited for our mains to arrive. We caught up over what we had been up to since we last saw each other back in December at the Zomato meet-up. Jaime being the kind soul she is, she brought me back three mini Bath & Body Works scented candles for me from her travels back to Seattle for Christmas, clearly she knows me too well! So sweet.
It is always a pleasure meeting this lovely lady, her charm is so warming and her American accent gets me every time, I could listen to her speak all day.
Our mains arrived rapidly, like a blink of an eye!
I ordered the mushroom and chicken pasta bake, which was so delicious. The portion size was extremely large… I knew from the start that I would not be able to finish all of it!
Jaime went for the wild mushroom risotto… which she has had eaten before and loved it so much that she just had to order it again!
The food piping hot, it was perfect for two hungry, cold food bloggers. It filled us up beyond our capacity, leaving us with definite growing food babies ready to face the cold again.
Soon enough, we were ready to part ways. Hugs and vows were exchanged of us getting together again very soon.
