Weekday Fun In London

It’s Saturday morning…. Hooray! I made it through the week in one piece (just about anyway!) There has been so many great things that have happened and I felt like I share the happiness.

In between running to lectures, runnings usual errands, I have been have a lot of weekday fun. I know, who knew fun things happened during the week?!

Where did I last leave off? Ah yeah, Monday! If you haven’t seen my last post about the Cinnamon Kitchen, you’re really missing out. If you like Indian food, and when I say that I mean GOOD indian food, then you’re in for a treat as it is #foodporn galore! It is the sort of place that will wish all those Monday blues away, so if you fancy something to look forward to on a Monday, then I think you should get a little booking in place.

I knew you all would need a little teaser to push you over the edge to make a booking, so there you are. Pictured above is the deliciously strong flavoured passion fruit tart. Glorious!

Tuesday meant that it was time to RUMBA on down to Thomas Cook Airlines event run by the airlines themselves at Barrio East, Shoreditch. An exciting time to meet new and old faces… some faces I hadn’t seen in over a year so it was a nice time to reunite and have a catch up in between shaking up a few of my own cocktails.

Wednesday definitely brought around a post-drinking headache. All the cocktails and wine consumed the night before came with a big price, even though our drinks were complimentary all night.

However, nothing better to fix it than another event first thing in the morning. The cold, crisp air of London at 7am really hits you and makes you feel rather refreshed, believe it or not.

Also views of London as the sun starts to make an appearance from the executive suites of The Bermondsey Square Hotel, above the sleeping city. Nothing quite like it!

We even got a tour of the hotel itself, with new modern chic furniture, a central location, and walking distance to everything, it really is the place to stay.

They even have holes in the doors in the bathroom (not what you’re thinking, naughty people!) The shower door, so you can grab your toiletries or even your phone to change the song on your phone without getting out and getting everything wet. Genius!

We had a post-tour breakfast in their homely feel dining area, with so much choice for breakfast. A few of the blogger ladies went for a cooked breakfast, but I thought it was safer to go for some fruit and a croissant as I was feeling rather fragile. Again, it was a nice place to meet some new faces that have the same passion as I do!

Thursday was a day of rest and university. When you spend so much time out and about it is nice just to stay at home and do nothing – happiness in a more comforting form.

Friday brought more fun and antics in London. I hadn’t seen Felicia for around 4/5 months and we were in need of a real catch up. What do two food bloggers do on a Friday night? Eat and drink lots!

First thing I wanted to go to Chin Chin Labs, where they make their ice-cream using cream and liquid nitrogen to make it into a cold, frozen ice-cream. Amazing right? The last time I had been was in my first year of university and sadly hadn’t had the chance to make a trip back since… so two years later I reunited with my love for Chin Chin Labs with Felicia.

Felicia had the Apple Turnover, which was delicious. A strong apple taste, something I didn’t know ice-cream could ever taste like. I on the other hand went for the Burnt Butter Caramel with some heather honeycomb on the side, where the ice-cream was salted caramel. Yummy!

After such an indulgent treat, we headed out to Leicester Square and watched some of the performances that were going on. Even though i’ve lived here for so many years, it is always fun being a tourist in your own city and just enjoying the small delights of talent in London.

Wondering around afterwards, we found ourselves in Covent Garden – a perfect time to grab some dinner. I had a voucher for Sophie’s Steakhouse from Zomato and desperately wanted to try it out, so we both went together and it was exceptional!

The Black Angus burger was to die for. I have never tried such a well seasoned beef patty before, filled with chilli, garlic, onions and capers. So good! I added cheese to mine and Felicia added cheese and bacon. What I also liked about this burger was that they put the lettuce, onions, tomato and gherkins on the side, so you could get a real taste of the meat whilst having the option to eat it with the burger or not. Served with dipping fries, it was a really filling meal as portions are quite large.

We were naughty and had dessert too! I had the berry mess, which was divine. Felicia had the chocolate brownie in support of National Chocolate Week.

Would I go back to Sophie’s? Yes, again and again! If you haven’t already been, you HAVE to go!

If all the food and drink wasn’t enough, Felicia introduce me to Chatime bubble tea, except I had mine without the bubbles or the tapioca. Yes… I know I am weird. If you have just realised that now, you’ve been hiding in the dark all this time.

A lovely end to a series of weekday fun and food. Who knew going out on a weekday could be so fun?

Until next time…
