Nothing beats the last stretch to Friday like Thursday night dinner plans. Clock watching through various points in the day waiting until it was time to leave university and head to Westfield in Shepherds Bush.
The clock struck 7:30pm and it was time to get seated, entering it what was a darkened floor with red lights giving it a sheer ambience for the evening.
Whilst we studied the menu, we were greeted by our waiter Constantinos aka ‘Stan’ who seemed very charming and friendly. Following Stan, was the manager with a bowl of dried cured beef for us to snack on whilst we pondered over what to order.
Before I even looked at the food menu, I was studying the drinks menu (It had most definitely been a long day!). The range of flavoured belini’s caught my eye… Raspberry, strawberry, mango and your traditional peach. Wow. I was sold on the mango belini for sure.
We decided to have the Bruschetta, sliced bread with freshly chopped up tomatoes, onions, soft creamy feta cheese, parmesan, pesto and basil with a drizzling of balsamic vinegar. Delicious!
300g of pure beef meat, cooked well done with a melt in your mouth experience nonetheless, not something that I have experienced in that many places around London. Served with thick cut chips that were crisp on the outside with a soft inner. I also opted to have the green peppercorn sauce on the side, which is my standard go to steak sauce – you can never go wrong with it.
My sister on the other hand, a lovely elongated piece of loin with on a bed of roasted sweet potato, garnished with feta cheese and lamb jus served with a side of rosemary infused mash potato.
A couple of the sides stood out to us too, the garlic mushrooms and onion rings. The garlic mushrooms were god-like, served hot with a good flavoursome follow up from each mushroom – just fantastic. The onion rings were not greasy at all, like most places and were perfectly crisp making it a lovely accompaniment to our meal.
The food was good, which left us feeling beyond full. However, our waiter encouraged us to check out the dessert menu, as he was sure we would regret it. I have to admit, there was some very intriguing options and left us wanting to try it all.
So… we might have just done that…
The dessert platter offered a little taste of most of the desserts on the menu, but we were also encouraged to order a couple more ‘normal’ sized desserts too. I’m so glad we did.
The platter featured the following desserts, the Madiba Charity Malva Pudding which is like a sticky toffee pudding, tiramisu, a mini brownie sundae, a coconut and raspberry vacharin, an indulgent chocolate fondant and a powering flavoured passionfruit sorbet. Keeping the theme of passionfruit we ordered the passionfruit crème brûlée which had passionfruit infused custard, and passionfruit seeds incorporated into the toasted brown sugar.
