A Healthy Affair At Spring With Eat Natural

Breakfast events are becoming a big thing in the blogging world and I am completely loving the idea. Personally, I cannot think of a better way to start a day, especially when your average weekday day is grey and dull especially with winter so close with a fresh cooked breakfast, meeting other bloggers and company/PR representatives.

Tuesday morning. Not a fun day, you’re more closer to the last weekend than the next weekend which means longer to wait before some weekend fun. However, this Tuesday morning was like no other morning I have ever had. Turning up to the beautiful sight of Somerset House and Spring restaurant first thing in the morning when most of the city is still sleeping, no better way to get the day started.

There is something about Somerset House that always makes me fall in love with it. It is such an elegant and recognised building in London that is always a pleasure to see. I have many fond memories of London Fashion Week there too, where sadly they remain as memories since the venue of LFW has moved.

I was greeted by the lovely Hannah as I entered into Spring, a stunning French restaurant situated in the New Wing of Somerset House, before being seated at the same table as Lauren who had arrived early and myself arriving a touch late, fashionably late.

A table full of delicious breads, sweet luscious fig and vanilla jam and soft Kefir butter. There was a choice of healthy breads too, sourdough and seeded rye breads. I started myself off with some rye bread and a helping of figalicious jam, yummy!

Just as I had finished my piece of bread, I was kindly brought out a warm pear and lemon buckwheat turnover. Oh my god, chef Skye Gyngell is a pure genius. Where can I get the recipe for these? Oh and about ten more please? So good!

The Spring waiters were being so attentive, they quickly came and took my plate as soon as I had finished, ready for the next dish.

Whilst waiting for the next dish to arrive, I took the opportunity to get into deep conversation with Lauren about university life, especially us being the same age, it gave us a lot to bond and talk about. I was positively jealous of her year abroad in France, with her accent being so proper and authentic, I could listen to her talking in French all day.

We may as well have been in France, with Lauren busting out some French and the venue looking like a beautiful little Parisian terrace with overlooking greenery, subtle fairy lights with a glass roof allowing the sun rays to reach into the room. So perfect.

The eggs were lovely, full of flavour and taste but a little too salty for my liking. Down to personal preference at the end of the day but nevertheless, the fluffiest scrambled eggs I have ever had. I heard a little bird say that the secret is double cream – a little test for myself on a Sunday morning in the kitchen. The eggs were served with al dente girolles mushrooms. Delicious!
Breakfast at Spring, Somerset HouseHow could we finish this beautiful series of breakfast dishes than a bowl of Eat Natural’s new granola? An exquisite new extension to their existing wonderfully healthy range. My sister and I are a huge lovers of their cereal bars, so it was only a matter of time before I found out about their granola. We were even lucky enough to be given two boxes of their smashing granola to take home and enjoy from the comfort of our own homes, whilst lounging on the sofa in the morning.
A fantastic event and start to my day. Thank you to the Spring for having us and to Lauren for being brilliant company. I’m sure this won’t be the last time you see me, I will be back to try the full menu with a group of my foodie friends soon.

Until next time…
