When it comes up to the festive period, I think even more than usual about people who go without. Especially when we are in our warm homes, exchanging presents and taking advantage of great food. There are poorer families out in third world countries that would just be happy with a meal.
Luxury 5* hotel Langham London have teamed up with SUITCASE mag and foodie icon Clerkenwell Boy to take part in the #CookForSyria campaign. Something i’m all for supporting, if I can do my little bit to help others.
The concept behind #CookForSyria is that many restaurants in London are adding Syrian themed dishes on their menus. For every time someone orders this dish, £2 is donated to the UNICEF Syria fund. It’s as simple as that!
The Langham London are serving their twist on their club sandwich called ‘Club Damascus’ throughout the month of November. Therefore, myself and Binny (aka Dynamic Duo) went out to try the Club Damascus for ourselves, to show our support.
We decided to order some Laurent Perrier brut champagne and toast to Syria. For only good things can come out of this campaign and we were proud to be a part of it.
It wasn’t long before we were served the wonderful Club Damascus sandwich.
The sandwich was made up toasted pitta, filled with deliciously spiced lamb, which was shredded up. Complete with halloumi, red onion, aubergine za’alouk and yoghurt. It was so delicious! If you’re into Middle Eastern food, you’ll love this!
We had a portion of crispy fries and a side salad served, but we were so full on the sandwich, we couldn’t even made a dent on the sides.
I have been to the Langham quite a few times now and I know they make an amazing Creme Brûlée, so I couldn’t leave without having it for dessert.
This is now where I ask you all to do your fair share, and help raise money for #CookForSyria campaign. It’s an excuse to go to the Langham for lunch or dinner and support such a wonderful cause. Find it deep within your heart, pre-festive season. Please.
Until next time…
