Sadly it is that time again for all you GCSE and A-level students taking your exams slightly earlier (crazy people!) and for us wonderful university students, the dreaded January exams are upon us.
I’ve been pulling my hair out trying to cover the content for four modules, learn all the lectures that have been taught in the last three months to ensure I pass these exams. I just hope it is worth it!
Over the years I have asked many people about the way they study or as most of us call it “revise”. Personally, from GCSE’s through to uni my methods have changed and that’s probably because its got harder than just being able to read a book and remember all the information!
Firstly it started of as reading through notes and just memorising them and surprisingly it actually worked! As I moved onto my further education at sixth form, it maybe more of a mind map and writing notes sort of technique. Coming onto the highest point in my education, I have kept a similar style of writing notes but have also decided to start recording my notes which involves me reading my notes out loud into a dictaphone and listening to them just before bed.
Apparently whilst you sleep, your brain goes through everything you have done and puts the important stuff into your long term memory, therefore reading the notes before bed is just an easy way to remember them easier!
I’m going to give it a go and see what the outcome is. There are so many different techniques out there to try, you just have to find which one is right for you.
Good luck with your exams guys and I am sure you will all do fantastically!
