Home (noun): The place where one lives permenantly, especially as a member of a family or household.
That time has come again, i’m heading back to London after a lovely long Easter holidays. I find the same feelings come every time I go back to London from Bournemouth or vice versa. I struggle to leave where I actually am but eager to get back to my next destination whether it be Bournemouth or London.
I find myself struggling to come to a decision where I call “home” too. Often finding myself calling London home in conversation with my parents and instantly see their faces drop, as if their babies have finally left the nest and stopped calling Bournemouth home. No! I’m just confused.
Both London and Bournemouth have something so unique to their own, that each other doesn’t have. Bournemouth boasts the beautiful country side, the golden sand beach, the horses, my parents and the town I was born in and grew up. Where as London signifies where I have always dreamt to be, a fast moving life that is everything a young adult wants, the nightlife, the amazing friends, and every bloggers dream with all the restaurants and shopping and event opportunities.
So why do I feel so torn about calling one place home? If I could, I would combine both Bournemouth and London together and I would definitely be happy, but there is no chance of that happening.
As many have told me, “Home is where the heart is”. However, I find myself longing to be at the place where I am not.
I’m sure I am not the only person that feels like this? I know many of you call your home, your place of birth, with is different countries for all you expats. Right?
Where do you all call home?
Until next time…
