Your wedding day is meant to be the most memorable 24-hour period in your entire life, which means that it should be absolutely perfect for you, and should not be dictated by what other people regard as ‘traditional’ or ‘normal’.
You have to do what is right for you, because that is what makes it special and bespoke. Your wedding is for you, at the end of the day, and you want it to reflect that. You need the right location, the appropriate rings, the best guests, and a band that can play exactly what you’re looking for. So, with that in mind, where are some of the more unusual places that you can get hitched in London?
1. Kew Gardens
If you dream of getting married while surrounded by nature and all things green, then look no further than Kew Gardens. This iconic venue, located in west London and surrounded by some of the most stunning foliage in the entire country, is home to over 10,000 plant species – and it’s absolutely ideal if you want to capture that perfect wedding camera shot.
2. The Tramshed
Nowhere sums up the Shoreditch vibe more than The Tramshed. It couldn’t be more hipster – its main feature is a cow in formaldehyde designed by Damien Hirst – and it still looks quite a lot like the tram shed it is named after. But it has fantastic food and a tremendous drinks menu, so it’s absolutely perfect for a party.
3. Severndroog Castle
Located in Greenwich, Severndroog Castle, which looks like something out of a fairytale, could well be the perfect place for your nuptials. Built in the late 1700s as Lady James of Eltham’s homage to her late husband, the rooftop enables 360-degree views of London and is surrounded by trees and foliage that enable the perfect wedding photo shoot.
4. The Soho Boulevard
If you want to get married right in the heart of London, and also want to feel as though you are saying your vows on a theatre stage, then Boulevard in Soho is absolutely perfect for you. With guests sitting in a circle around the central stage, it is a location that is as intimate as it is modern.
5. Dead Dolls House
It may not sound like the ideal location for a wedding, but hear us out. Positioned in the heart of iconic Islington, this three-storey Victorian townhouse has a stunning interior, masses of character, and plenty of room for partying.
6. House of Commons
Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? But you actually can get married in the House of Commons! Not only are the rooms incredibly spacious, and the interiors very grand, but you will be able to get wedding photos that many others could only dream of!
7. Foundling Museum
There’s no other way to state this; if you want your wedding photos to look like they were taken on the set of Downton Abbey, look no further. This venue in Bloomsbury is rather unassuming from the outside, but once you’re through the door, you could be in the home of Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham.
Which of the above locations would you want to get married in?
Until next time…
