Three sleeps, two sleeps, one sleep, RISE AND SHINE, it’s the day! It’s time to test out the beautiful
Peruvian breakfast at Lima Floral. Not only that, but I get to see more wonderful food bloggers, especially the lovely two community managers of Zomato – Alexandra and Sheepa. Always a pleasure ladies, always pleasure.
**WARNING** You read past this point at your own risk, it may cause extreme cravings and the need to run out of your office and eat a Peruvian breakfast. Fresh & Fearless holds no account for any loss of jobs or food babies caused by this post.
Have you ever had a breakfast that separates out into starters AND a main course? I know what you’re thinking… it was my first time too. I think it has brought out a whole new meaning to breakfast!
How divine! Exotic, sweet fruits. From watermelon to strawberries. From Physalis to fresh honey comb.
A selection of yoghurts, raisins, chia seeds, perched next to the most divine loaf of cinnamon bread, crusty fresh croissants and soft, moist scones. Mmmm, so delicious.
However, first thing is first! We got served quinoa porridge with a topping of chia seeds and fig syrup. I have had quinoa in salads and as a side before, but never as a breakfast. However, I wasn’t a fan of it served as a porridge. The flavour was fine, I just felt the texture wasn’t quite my thing. I like soft, mushy traditional oat porridge.
There were a lot of mixed views on it around the table. Some of the fellow foodies absolutely loved it and others had the same opinion as me. I guess it is very dependant on everyones personal taste.
Next up was the buffet style fruit and bread selection…
The cinnamon bread was lush. Harder on the outside with the perfect, fluffy inner that just made it heavenly with a bit of raspberry jam spread on top. The croissants took me back to my
Paris trip earlier this year where the croissants have a crispy, flaky outer and a soft, doughier inner.
Served with the bread were the cutest posts of raspberry jam straight from France, what a treat. There was definitely a piece of France within this breakfast, especially with the jam produce and the perfect croissants.
I ordered a latte to accompany my croissant and cinnamon bread and it arrived in the cutest, quirkiest glass. No mugs here foodie friends, just a perfect bubble looking glass with a head protective outer to prevent you getting burnt. Where can I get a set of these for my kitchen?!
I was so full at this point but can you believe this was just the array of starters? I’m more of a grab a toast and run sort of person in the mornings, so to have such a big, heavy and divine breakfast was definitely a treat, but a treat my stomach wasn’t expecting!
I had the Peruvian breakfast club sandwich, which consisted of toasted yellow chilli bread, organic chicken, lettuce and tomato. (Normally it has suckling pig in too, but I had that removed from mine – Thanks Lima)
Whilst my foodie friends around the table picked other items from the menu…
To the left of me, Farrah had the Croque Señor which consisted of toasted white brioche, organic ham, gruyere cheese, béchamel (a white sauce) and a huancaina sauce.
On the right of me and across the table, Elani and Sheepa had the poached eggs with avocado and red pepper jam.
A big thumbs up from everyone, indulging, enjoying and having a good chat over what was a fantastic breakfast.
It was positively a filling experience, but well worth the countdown. It was so great to meet more like minded people, especially most of which I had already been in contact with over social media. Always nice to finally meet internet friends in person!
Thank you to Lima Floral for having us and hosting such an epic breakfast. Most of all, a massive thank you to Zomato for the invite and getting us all together.
Until next time…
